This workshop is intended for individuals interested in learning how to create designs for use in Fab Labs. The workshop provides a comprehensive overview of design software, material selection, and best practices for creating designs optimized for fabrication using a laser cutter. Participants will be guided through design software, Adobe Illustrator, to create their own designs, which can then be fabricated in a Fab Lab. By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained the skills necessary to create their own designs for laser cutting and other forms of digital fabrication.

Why Illustrator?

Adobe Illustrator is the industry leading vector design software and integrates well with the Fab Lab machines. With Illustrator, you can design for the laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and CNC router. When you come into the Haystack Fab Lab, you will have access to Adobe Illustrator software on our design lab computer. For this workshop, you can sign-up for a free 30-day trial of Adobe Illustrator in order to learn and follow along.
