Date & Time: Tuesday, May 23 at 6:30pm ET
This workshop is intended for individuals interested in learning how to prepare and create designs for the Fab Lab. The workshop provides a comprehensive overview of the design software and best practices for creating machine-ready files for the 3D printer. Participants will be guided through the 3D modeling software, TinkerCAD, to create their own designs, which can be fabricated in the Fab Lab. By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained the skills necessary to create their own designs for 3D printing and potentially other forms of digital fabrication.
Why TinkerCAD?
TinkerCAD is a free 3D modeling program aimed at a novice audience with little computer design experience. With TinkerCAD, you can design a variety of useful objects and utilize simple workflows to take your ideas and sketches into 3D. While free, it is somewhat limited to the complexity of designs and features available to users. However, it is a great tool for beginners who want to learn the basics of 3D modeling.
Throughout the workshop, participants will be given an introduction to TinkerCAD and learn how to use it to create 3D designs. They will also receive guidance on how to design machine-ready files that can be printed on a 3D printer. By the end of the workshop, participants will have gained the skills and knowledge necessary to create their own designs for 3D printing and other forms of digital fabrication using TinkerCAD.
